The A-Z brings Jim to K for Kielder
Retired librarian Jim Taylor has run all distances from 1 mile to 24hr endurance ultra events and currently he is undertaking an A-Z of marathons that will take him all over the world.
Jim, 58, from Kirkcaldy came up with the idea on a plane after running the Athens marathon in 2011 and has since run Berlin, Caen, Dundee, Eden project, Florence, Great wall, Hoad Hill and Islay marathons with Jungfrau and Kielder next on the list. Jim hasn’t ruled out squeezing the Kielder duathlon in the day before either!
Jim is currently a member of the Glenrothes triathlon club. A passionate runner and cyclist he is a Jog Scotland qualified leader and started the Lang Toun Joggers last year. Jim has competed in duathlons as well as running races and have picked up a few age group prizes.
So why Kielder? Jim told us:
“A few reasons…I will have done a lot of hill training for the Jungfrau so no need to waste it! Its fairly local and there is a duathlon as well which I am tempted to enter and I haven’t done it before!
Jim who lives with his cat Rupert rates The Great Wall marathon as his favourite so far “just for the awesomeness of the wall” but also rates Islay highly for the friendliness of the event as a whole. Jim is also a keen cyclist, having completed the Lands End to John O Groats, London to Edinburgh, Mont Ventoux challenge and the Marmotte. He has also just started up “Scottish bike touring” www.scottishbiketouring.com
Good luck Jim from all at Kielder Marathon. We hope to be your favourite in your A-Z!
