Kielder Marathon Ambassador – Mark Maughan
I’m Mark and I’m thrilled to be part of the team as an ambassador for the 2020 Kielder Marathon.
A bit about me, I’m the kind of runner who just loves to be outdoors, I’m not focussed on PB’s or challenging for the podium. I just love the freedom that running provides in exploring new destinations and how it brings people together.
I work for Impact Marathon Series, an organisation focused on using the power of running to support communities all around the world, including events in Guatemala, Kenya, Malawi, Nepal and Jordan.
I’m a big believer in community, especially that of the wider running community and the people of the North East, which is why I am thrilled to be one of the Kielder Marathon Ambassadors.
Originally from Consett, County Durham I’ve always loved running in the North East and as I’m extremely fortunate with my job to travel so much across the globe, I’m always telling people to come and visit to explore the incredible trails and challenging hills.
So much so that I was able to register a few friends from afar to take part in the Kielder Marathon & Half Marathon last year, friends from Birmingham, London and even New York ventured North to take in the beautiful setting around Kielder reservoir and they all thoroughly enjoyed it.
This year I’m excited to recruit a few more friends as part of my Kielder Marathon ambassador role and meet you all on the start line and along the course.
