Runner celebrates birthday at Kielder Marathon Weekend
Active Northumberland champion Jayne Baker is representing Willowburn Leisure Centre and will be running both the Half Marathon and 10k to celebrate her 57th birthday.
Jayne first ran the Kielder 10k about 8 years ago and quite enjoyed the lovely and sc enic route. Since then Jayne has set up a local ‘social’ running group in Alnwick called Alnwick Run-4-Fun who like to have weekends away that include a running event.
Jayne is turning 57 on Sunday 8th October, and she will be celebrating by running the Kielder Half Marathon.
She completed the half marathon last year after getting a place through Active Northumberland and she has managed to talk some of her friends into taking part with her this year. They have rented a cottage close by and plan to make a birthday weekend of the event. There are 5 of them doing the half marathon and 2 of them doing the 10k. Jayne is the only one doing both!
Some of Jayne’s running group also completed the Great North Run this month, on behalf of the Northumberland Hospice.
Jayne has been training for Kielder since the Great North Run, and has been trying some plyometric training in the gym as well.
Jayne, you are truly inspirational – keep up the training! You definitely deserve a slice of birthday cake and a glass of fizz to celebrate your birthday after the Kielder Half Marathon!
