“I want to get round safely and drink in all the views again!”
Meet Michael Briggs, one of our 2019 Events of the North Ambassadors, who will be running in the Active Northumberland Kielder Half Marathon. Michael, 30, works in digital Marketing and is filmmaker and also has a podcast dedicated to running: A Runner’s Ramble.
“I started running about 6 years ago.
Having being involved with athletics for over 10 years, it was difficult to find a sport that would scratch the itch of keeping active. The chance to tick-off a life long goal of running the Great North Run was now do-able in 2014. It wasn’t easy but I did it, sub 2 hours!
I ran the in the Active Northumberland Half Marathon last year with my friend Peter and it was incredible. I can’t wait to be back. This year following a long lay off through injury I just want to get round safely and drink in all the views.
At Kielder, what’s not to love?! Beautiful scenery, a great route and of course, CAKE!
I am a big fan of Events of the North races, having taken part in the
Sunderland 10k, Durham City 10k, Kielder Half marathon in the past. I need to get Try on the Tyne ticked off next year, but I don’t think I could do a trip to Worcester to get them all!
It’s hard to pick three top moments in running, but I would choose:
1 finishing my first Great North Run. 2. Finishing my first running documentary. 3. Running with Paula Radcliffe And Aly Dixon
My running hero is Eliud Kipchoge, but my team mates in my group of friends we call Team Tedious are the real inspirations. They inspire me to run more than anyone. Everything they do is class and massively inspiring.”
